"Azusa" or "Super-Azusa" bound for Matsumoto or Minami-Otari.
"Azusa" or "Super-Azusa" depart from Shinjuku terminal
every 30 or 60 minutes from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. It
takes 2 hours and a half to move from Shinjuku terminal
to Matsumoto sta. by "Super-Azusa". In case of getting
on "Azusa", it takes 3hours. If you can catch the limited-express
train bounds for Minami-Otari,it is not necessary for
you to change train at Matsumoto. All the trains stop
at Hakuba station. But when you get on the train for Matsumoto, you
must change train at Matsumoto and it takes about 1 hour
and 40 minutes to get to |

attention, "Super-Azusa" does not stop at Kamishiro
but "Azusa" stops at Kamishiro. JR East provides "Azusa
Kaisuuken" ( Azusa ticket book). 4 pieces in a

You had better change money before
arriving at a station!
 |
| Generally in Japan though there are auto-tellers-machines
that we can draw or put our deposit by cash card
at the big stations, |
|
but it is difficult for you to find banks
to change money even at the big stations. So you had better
change money before arriving at a station, otherwise you
can not buy tickets. We can not purchase tickets by credit
cards except the ones issued by JR. |
| Express charges(JR) |
Train
reservation system in Japan |
| You must pay an express charge for an express
train, a limited-express charge for a limited-express
train. |
Coaches of express trains of JR are devided
into reservation obligatory cars and non-reserved cars.
So if you want to keep your seat, you had better buy reservation
ticket. You can't sit reserved seat without a reservation
ticket. |

| If you get
lost...... |
| Just ask something what you
want to know simply and clearly to people around.
For example if you get lost at Nagano station wanting
to know the bus stop location, just ask like "Hakuba,
bus, please". Perhaps it works. Key words are kings!
It's much more confusion for most Japanese people if you
tried to tell full sentence like " Could you please
tell me where is the bus stop for Hakuba?" Good luck. |
