About Japan
|
|
|
weather
spring and autumn--it's very comfort.
summer--It's hot and high humidity except high grounds
and northern part of Japan. In the big city as Tokyo,
they have a heat-island phenomenon so it is hot even
in night. But air-condition systems are widespread
among such a place so you can sleep well in hotel.
winter--Areas along the Japan sea we have much snow
and at the opposite side we have few snow and it is
very dry. In both sides it is cold, but at the southern
part of Japan for example Okinawa, it is warm.

Exchange
You can change money at banks in cities or airports
with the indication "Authorized money changer", but
it is difficult to find bank to change money at train
stations so you had better change money to buy tickets
before arriving at a station.
Places where you can draw some
JAPAN YEN with your credit card/s that were issued
outside of Japan.

Price level
If it's for living temporaly or permanentally in
Tokyo, it is still expensive but if it's just travelling
around or visiting some places, nowadays we can
say it's not so expensive compared with before.
Especially ski passes are cheap enough compared
with in Australia, United states etc. Accommodations,
lunch etc are also not so expensive. You might say
transportations are still expensive but they are
clean, comfortable and punctual in Japan.

Foods
Some of non-Japanese people say "Foods in Japan is
very unique." We eat our own foods in our own way
and sometimes eat Chinese foods, Korean foods, Italian
Foods, French Foods and etc. We recommend you to try
Japanese foods such as Sushi, Tenpura and others.
Sushi is as following: Topping raw fish on a bite-size
of a lump of rice mixed with sour and sugar and put
a few japanese horseradish between raw fish and rice.
We guess that almost all non-Japapanese people have
no custom to eat raw fish, so it is difficult for
you to put sushi into your mouth. But please try!
It is healthy foods because sushi contains few fat
and much protein. As japanese horseradish makes your
nose on fire, sushi may be an exciting foods. Sometimes
you may drop tears by japanese horseradish.

House number
This is probably one of the hardest thing for non-japanese
people to used to with. Perhaps in most countries
house numbers are shown like ***** street # like below.
If that South avenue was in a town named ( for exapmple)
Greenyard, perhaps house numbers are shown something
like
1 South Ave. Greenyard.
Is this description correct?
But in Japan, it never works. Usually house numbers
in cities in Japan are shown along squares like below.
First of all, all the streets do not always have
names. Perhaps only some main streets have names for
them. If this town was called " Midorimachi (= Green
town)", the red house is called as " Midorimachi 1cho-me
2 banchi 8" or simply "Midorimachi 1-2-8". The green
house is called as "Midorimachi 2cho-me 4 banchi 11"
or simply "Midorimachi 2-4-11"
And additional, each and every square has some small
paths in them, so a square for BANCHI is
to be costituted by some smaller squares.
In countrysides, there is no rule! You just need
to ask someone whose house you look for!

Floors
|
|
British people seem to call the floor just
on the ground level "Ground floor", we Japanese
call it "First floor". So, there is always 1
floor mismatching concerning floors on and above
ground level. Not sure about the basement floors.
